Melissa (Officinalis) is a bushy herb well-known for its therapeutic uses such as treatment of cold sores, minor wounds, and insect bites. It is a part of the Lamiaceae family, native to Europe but which has spread throughout much of North America. Melissa has flowers that vary from white to yellowish that grow in loose, small bunches from the axils of the leaves. The flowers bloom from June to October. The plant dies down in winter, but the root is perennial.
Melissa has been used for hundreds of years, in the 14th century, the French Carmelite nuns included it in tonic water. In the 16th century, a famous philosopher, physician, and botanist called it "The Elixir of Life". This oil was known throughout history as an asset for your memory and for chasing away the blues.

Melissa Essential Oil Uses:
- Use with a moisturizer or skin lotion to help enhance the appearance of healthy-looking skin.
- Diffuse to create a warm and inviting environment. Use 6-8 drops per 100 mL of water.
- Try blending it with essential oils such as Cedarwood, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, and Lemon.
How to Use
Topical: Dilute with a carrier oil of your choice at 1:4 ratio.
Aromatic: Diffuse up to an hour 3 times a day by adding 6-8 drops for every 100 mL of water.
Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas. If pregnant, nursing, or suffering from a medical condition, consult with your physician prior to use. For external use only. May irritate sensitive skin.
